Alumni Spotlight: Jeorgio Kocevski
SDA Alumni Jeorgio Kocevski from our SDA Boys 2002 team recently started his freshman year playing D1 soccer at Syracuse University. There, Jeorgio plays attacking center mid for the Orange. He hopes to go onto play professional soccer and leave his mark during his college career at SU.
Jeorgio started playing with the SDA Boys 2002 team when he was 7. By 13, he was helping lead his team to Nationals in Frisco, Texas. Jeorgio noted that his favorite SDA memory was being the first boys’ team from Western NY to win Regionals in 2016. In an interview, Jeorgio said, “My SDA coaches prepared me for the next level by pushing me to get better everyday and constantly giving me the confidence that I could get the next level and not only play, but thrive.”
“Jeorgio is a technical, crafty player who is very dynamic on the field. One of the most creative players to come through our program.” – SDA Coach Mike Paolini
Jeorgios favorite SU soccer memory is scoring his first goal at the Syracuse soccer Stadium. “My advice for the younger generation would be to keep putting the work in and you can achieve anything you want. It’s the guys who put extra work in after training sessions and outwork all their teammates who are going to be the guys who make it to that next level.”
Jeorgio's “soccer inspiration is Cristiano Ronaldo because of how much extra work he puts in off the field and how determined he is to be the best in the world.” Jeorgio’s soccer journey started when he was only 3 years old and his dad took him to kick a ball around on a soccer field. Since then, he has fallen in love with the game. “When I first started, I wasn’t the best player by any means, but I kept my head up and worked harder than anyone I knew, and it paid off.”
We look forward to watching you play the Syracuse Orange for the next four years! We will be rooting for that professional contract!
