History of SDA

unnamed-4

Syracuse Development Academy’s history goes back decades.  Coaches of this soccer club have been working, playing, and coaching together since the 1990’s, if not before. The Syracuse Development Academy was established in 2004 as Syracuse FC with teams in every age group U9-U18 boys and girls.

SDA’s youth soccer players have competed Nationally and Internationally with ODP and Semi-Professionally.  Players of SDA have gone on to play collegiately from Jr. Colleges up to high level Division 1 programs.  Syracuse Development Academy teams have been represented in State Cup, Regionals and Nationals for USYSA since the beginning.  SDA will continue to be the leader in Upstate New York for youth soccer, as well as strive to be the best in the State, Region and Nation.

Since 2004, we have been the elite soccer provider of player development in Syracuse.  Syracuse Development Academy continues to update and improve their coaching techniques, in order to adapt to the changes in the game. SDA always offers equal opportunities and the best for players of the game.  The club continues to:

• Develop 100% of our players to be prepared to play high school varsity soccer, if they so choose
• Graduate players that continue their careers in college soccer (currently, 90% of our players continue beyond the high school level)
• Develop programs that meet the development needs of all players from ages 4 to 19
• Continue to require all of our coaches to obtain NSCAA and/or USSF coaching licenses, with several staff members maintaining the highest licenses in the country
• Provide access to the best leagues in the country, such as US Soccer Developmental Academy, Region I League, National League, as well as, future acceptance to the Elite Clubs National League
• Identify Partnerships: Syracuse Development Academy will continue to create opportunities for players to play during the summer while they are still in high school, college, and after they have graduated from college:
• MISL Syracuse Silver Knights (SSK) – professional indoor men’s team
• WPSL Syracuse Lady Knights (SLK) – amateur women’s team
• NPSL Syracuse Knights – future amateur men’s team
